Global TIES Fellowship in Buenos Aires: Applications Now Open

Global TIES for Children is pleased to announce the launch of the Global TIES Fellowship in Buenos Aires, a new experiential learning program developed in collaboration with NYU Buenos Aires and NYU Steinhardt.

This fellowship provides undergraduate students with the opportunity to connect academic study with community-engaged research in one of Latin America’s most dynamic urban contexts. Fellows complete a structured placement guided by local practitioners and supported through faculty mentorship and an academic framework grounded in vulnerability, resilience, and social equity.

Program Structure

Fellows complete 8 credits as part of their full-time semester away:

  • 4-credit Experiential Learning Seminar, focused on community responses to structural and local challenges

  • 4-credit academic course, selected from a curated list aligned with the fellowship’s thematic pillars

Students also receive a $3,500 award to support their participation.

Placement Opportunities

  • Partner organizations span multiple sectors, including:

  • Educational nonprofits and youth-serving organizations

  • NGOs supporting migrants and local neighborhoods

  • Public health programs and health organizations

  • City of Buenos Aires offices

  • Child psychologists and social workers

Some placements require intermediate Spanish.

Eligibility

The fellowship is open to NYU Steinhardt undergraduates across disciplines who are eager to develop research, communication, and problem-solving skills applicable to global careers.

Deadlines

  • Study Away Application (NYU Buenos Aires): January 15 for Fall | August 15 for Spring

  • Fellowship Application: February 15 for Fall | September 15 for Spring
