Global TIES & University of Cape Coast co-host LEARN Methods Workshop in Accra, Ghana

Last week, LEARN scholars from Ghana came together in Accra for their first annual methods workshop—five days of hands-on training focused on measure development and psychometric analysis.  By investing in these skills, LEARN scholars are building the capacity to advance research on learning variability.

From lectures, data practice, fun interactive activities, and group work, scholars strengthened their capacity to:
✅ Design and adapt research instruments that are contextually relevant
✅ Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of those instruments
✅ Understand how research and measurement play an important role in defining policy context within a country

LEARN brings together a diverse and driven cohort of eleven scholars from University of Cape Coast, University of Education, Winneba, University for Development Studies, Agogo Presbyterian Women's College, and the AKENTEN APPIAH-MENKA UNIVERSITY OF SKILLS TRAINING AND ENTREPRENEURIAL DEVELOPMENT(AAMUSTED_GH) who are committed to leveraging research to understand and solve for policy gaps, and to champion progress in child development and education across Ghana.

A huge thank you to the facilitators, mentors, partner institutions, and our funder for making this initiative a reality, and this workshop a success and, the biggest shoutout to our scholars for their dedication, critical engagement, and insight! Jacobs Foundation, University of Cape Coast, Hirokazu Yoshikawa, Lindsay Brown, Priyamvada Tiwari, Christopher Yaw Kwaah.
