Hirokazu Yoshikawa Elected Fellow of the British Academy

TIES Co-Founder recognized among the 2026 cohort of scholars honored by the UK's national academy for the humanities and social sciences.

Hirokazu Yoshikawa has been elected a Fellow of the British Academy, one of 31 International Fellows among the 92 scholars welcomed into the academy's 2026 class. The British Academy is the United Kingdom's national body for the humanities and social sciences, and fellowship is among the field's highest honors. Yoshikawa is one of four NYU-affiliated scholars among this year's International Fellows.

Yoshikawa's research spans early childhood development, family strengthening, migration, and education systems in low- and middle-income and crisis-affected countries. His work has informed program and policy design at UNICEF, national ministries of education, and humanitarian agencies working with displaced and vulnerable children worldwide.

“I am tremendously honored to have been elected as an International Fellow of the British Academy. I look forward to engaging with the Academy and other fellows on issues of education and human development in global contexts, so many of which are under threat currently,” said Yoshikawa.
